OpenPlant Modeler Help

To Create Custom Equipment

This option allows you to create a one-time custom piece of equipment from existing elements in the model.
  1. Draw an object(s) using the Base Geometry tools.
Note: If you have an existing shape you would like to use on your drawing, you can select it instead.
  2. Select the geometrical shape(s) using one of the Element Selection methods.
  3. Select the option to Create Component using Existing Graphic Elements from the Equipment ribbon.

    The following dialog displays.

  4. Select the equipment type to assign to the shape(s) from the first drop down list.
  5. Define an equipment class for the component (Second drop down).
Note: Parametric equipment classes cannot be used for custom components.
  6. Click OK.

    The Modify Equipment dialog displays.

  7. Define a tag number and any property values you wish to assign to the component.
  8. Click Apply all Changes to complete the process.

The geometrical shape is now a defined Modeler component.

Note: If nozzles are to be placed on the custom component, you must first use the Datum Manager to create at least one datum to reference when you place the nozzles.
Note: This option does not define a new component type which is stored in the schema. This command only allows you to assign an equipment type, tag number and property values to an existing geometric shape(s) in the drawing. However, you are able to use the Copy command to create additional instances of the new component within the model if desired.
